Chattahoochee
Published in Paperback by Author's Choice Press (01 September, 2000)
Authors: Ritchie Haney and Rich Haney
Average review score:

It is better than Cold Mountain; a much better story.
Chattahoochee by Rich Haney is the best Civil War novel I've read and I've read many, including Cold Mountain, Red Badge of Courage, Killer Angels, etc. Chattahoochee has three lovely but eclectic characters -- a Mississippi woman, her baby girl and a Union officer. The young woman and little girl, displaced by the Civil War after the husband and father goes off to fight and die for the South, barely survive. That changes when the little girl, precocious at age three, has a clairvoyant dream about a Union soldier in the last year of the four-year war. The day after she tells her mother of the dream, minutely describing the soldier, he saves them from a raging storm and a firefight between Rebels and Confederates. The soldier comes to worship the child and love the woman, with equal passion; he accepts a dangerous assignment at war's end in exchange for the army's agreeing to send the child and mother to his farm in Meade County, Kentucky. The precious little girl, in Kentucky, has another clairvoyant dream about the soldier, on the other side of the war, that she adores. She dreams that he is shot in the head at the Battle of Girard on the Chattahoochee River where the river separates Columbus, Georgia, from Phenix City, Alabama. Telegrams from Columbus to Kentucky confirm the dream and the soldier is in a coma, not expected to live. The little girl has a third clairvoyant dream, when he comes out of the coma after four days.

Thought - Provoking and Interesting
This is a very good book that I think many would like. The stories in it are fascinating, and help affirm Christianity. The experiences people had were incredible, and really opened up my eyes -- God is more alive than ever. He loves us all. I recommend this book to just about anybody, especially for those who are having doubts about their faith.

Dulcimer Book
Published in Paperback by Music Sales Corp (June, 1975)
Author: Jean Ritchie
Average review score:

My favorite Dulcimer book!!
I bought my copy in the late 70s, and still rely on it constantly. This is THE best dulcimer book to get, as a first book and as one you'll return to again and again. In it Jean Ritchie, who is pretty much the mother of the last 20 yrars of the dulcimer revivals, explains how to tune the dulcimer for all of the various modes, not just the 2 or 3 most common ones. She also has songs using each of the modes, ones simple enough for beginners and interesting enough for experienced players. This is traditional dulcimer playing, using a noter for melody & the open strings as drones. For detailed information on chording, check out other books. But if you want to know how to play those songs that are in other keys/modes than mixolydian and ionian, and/or want a good, complete, basic book (for learning and for reference), this one is it! Jean's book include pictures, history and other information too, print is a comfortable size & the music is written out large enough to see & read easily while playing.

Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders (Exploring Scotland's Heritage Series)
Published in Paperback by The Stationery Office (October, 1998)
Authors: John Baldwin and Anna Ritchie
Average review score:

The most succinct, detailed physical summary I've seen
Simple maps, Every possible denomination of manmade site to visit from castles to prehistoric sites to bridges. roads could be more detailed, driving times would be nice, no typical "touristy" info on where to eat, drink, sleep, etc. I wish the sections were all in one book. Recommended for people visiting Scotland that aren't there to party or shop. Chapters include: history of region, several excursions( tour routes), towns, industrial monuments and harbours, communications, rural buildings, mansions and memorials, artillery forts and barracks, castles, ecclesiastical monuments, dark age carved stones, forts, brochs and settlements, cairns and standing stones. lots of pics.

Erin McEwan, Your Days Are Numbered: a synopsis by Madeline.
Erin McEwan, Your Days Are Numbered is one of my favorite books. It's about a girl who is poor in math, but finds a major bookkeeping error in stocks. I can't wait to read Erin McEwan, Your Days Are Numbered again!

The Father Costume
Published in Hardcover by Artspace Books (15 May, 2002)
Authors: Ben Marcus and Matthew Ritchie
Average review score:

By the excellent Mr. Marcus
Those who read The Age of Wire and String and Notable American Women won't be disappointed. One again, Marcus demonstrates his unusual skill: describing strange situations & relationships with a slightly biased language. As it is said p.19: "There is a portion of time that my own language cannot remark." Exploring this peculiar portion with Ben Marcus is a challenging experience.

A Little Bit of Myself
I read the book and found a little bit of myself in there. I could relate to it as I read some of the stories. I found it very uplifting and warm. It reminded me of another book I read called "Christmas Box Miracle". It is the type book I would probably purchase and use as a gift. The poems were wonderful
